KEDARKANTHA is a summit of the HIMALAYAS in Uttarakhand, India. It is at the altitude of 12,500 ft. KEDARKANTHA is situated within GOVIND WILDLIFE SANCTUARY in UTTARKASHI. The move to the PINNACLE of KEDARKANTHA begins from a little market known as SANKRI. There are an aggregate of 13 PINNACLE of the HIMALAYAN range obvious from the KEDARKANTHA TOP.

KEDARKANTHA is one of the most beautiful and scenic WINTER TREK you can take in the WESTERN HIMALAYAS. You meet snow even before your first BASECAMP, and after that white heaven of snow awaits your every step. It offer you some great experience especially for beginners it’s the best trek to start with, to begin with, your trek passion in the HIMALAYAS. With beautiful meadows and the dense forest and JUDA KA TALAB and the summit itself make the trek complete and memorable.

Itinerary

Day 1Reaching to Sankri/Sidri from Dehradun

All your fellow trek will meet you outside Dehradun railway station from where you will board for Sankri. Try to leave Dehradun by 7 so that you can get enough time to do site seeing. You will travel contour of Mussoorie the queen of hills and the beautiful Kempty Fall. it is the most beautiful drive taking you through some key place on the way like Purola, Mori, and Naitwad from where your Govind Ghat Wildlife Sanctuary starts. Finally arriving at Patangda above Sidri village from where you can enjoy the most scenic view all around and the Harkidun valley is just in front of you. You get the most phenomenon view of Char seeng, Swargarohini just front of you.

Day 2Sidri village to Hargoan campsite

Starting from the Sidri, the walk will take you through the terrace apple orchard on either side and finally getting in the pine forest and the Golden and Silver Oak trees are common on this till the Kedarkantha base. There is not much crowd on this route, and you will find hardly anyone. we choose this route because Sankri is overcrowded with treks since it’s a common marketplace for many villages.
After walking for one and a half km you will finally get in the Kupdha Thach and will get the first glimpse of the Kedarkantha summit. Rest here for some time since it’s a picturesque place where you can get some memorable shot from the trek.
The final walk is a bit hard one as it’s the steepest climb till Hargoan the first campsite of the trek. Hargoan is one of the most beautiful campsites surrounded by Pine and Oaks all around. After some rest, you will be taken to Jud aka talab for acclimatization walk which is half km from Hargoan campsite. Enjoy some time at Juda ka Talab and after spending quantitative at Juda head back for the campsite.

Day 3Hargoan to Kedarkantha Basecamp

Today is two and a half km walk for basecamp, fill your water bottle here because there is no water source on the way till basecamp. After breakfast starts your day walk for the Base camp to enjoy quantitative time at base camp. You will the Kedarkantha summit from here and a base camp is a happening place. Today you will be involved in activities to be well prepared mentally and physically for the final climb to the summit. You will be briefed after dinner and your B.P and pulse and heart rate will be checked. Sleep early today as you will start early next morning.

Day 4Base camp to Kedarkantha summit

Today is a crucial day as you will heading for the summit for your final push to the summit and the crucial part of your trek. If the weather condition is good on this day don’t miss the sunrise as you will be seeing 360 panoramas of the Himalayan belt. It will take you 5 to 6 hrs to get on summit. After 2 km from the basecamp it’s a steep climb till the summit. Getting on a summit provides some phenomenon view you get to see the Harkidun valley, Char Seeng, Swargarohini, Black peak, and the Phulararidge. After spending some on the summit head back for the as you will walk down to Hargoan.
Getting back to base and have your and head down to Hargoan where you spend the exhausting day. You wouldn’t be doing much since you will be exhaust but the next day is complete relief.

Day 5Hargoan to Sidri / Patangdha

Today is a three and a half km walk descent to Sidri walking down the same trail. Reaching Sidri you will get plenty of time to explore around. Sidri is a beautiful village that has old fashion wooden houses with a corrugated tin roof. The village has lord Sameshwar temple where you may spot boys playing cricket. The village is in the middle of two motorable roads on its either side which connect to Sankri and the upper road with both Sankri and Khotghoan.

Day 6Sidri to Back to Dehradun

Today you will be heading back to Dehradun along the river on your side. The drive takes you through key places like Purola, Nainbag, Kemptyfall, and Mussoorie. You will reach Dehradoon by 7:00 PM or 8:00 PM in the evening.
